It’s been a while.

It’s a rainy evening.

Started at about five o’ clock just after I left work. I’m listening to the Reload album. Fixxxer. Carpe Diem baby.

Over the past few weeks I have been shooting mostly at night using my XE-2. I don’t dislike the images which the 1300D gives me but the XE-2 images feel softer. More retro. Although I don’t want to shoot film at the moment the Fuji gets me close to this idea.

I’ve been playing around with the Kodachrome 64 recipe. I tweaked it and got to the following results:

Film Simulation: Classic Chrome
Dynamic Range: DR200
Highlight: -1
Shadow: +2
Color: -1
Sharpness: -1
Noise Reduction: –2
White Balance: Daylight
WB Shift: Red: -1, Blue: –4
ISO: Auto, max ISO 1600

Once I take them out of the camera (off the memory card sounds better right?) I pop them into Snapseed for a quick bake. A crop, filmy grain filter and then it is ready to go.

I like the mood which these filters bring to my photos. Not necessarily because they are film ‘simulators'(?) but because the give them a very retro look. In terms of the grain I don’t push the filter to its limits. 25% grain in the effect is perfect.

Here are some of my favorite shots from this evening.

A rainy evening.
Passing by.
Indicators flashing.

The last image is my favorite. The car was driving with its indicator lights flashing and if you look closely at the images you can spot the extra orange light trail in the middle of the others.

I’m slowly working on setting up my shop here on my website and will share the URL as soon as everything is working and online.

In the meantime thanks for reading : )
