Another meal.

I’m not a big fan of mixing potatoes and pasta.

Given the option to choose, 99% of the time I would go for potatoes and rice. For me they just fit better. For this evenings meal we went a bit ‘weird’. Ground beef, broccoli and cauliflower with potatoes on top of some penne regante.

For spice I added some Cape Malay from Cape Herb & Spice. A nice fragrant flavor.

I will leave you with some of the results.

Fried onions.

A simple recipe, as most of the food I prepare. I enjoy taste but being able to sit down and within 30 minutes or so is a must for me. Onions fried with paprika and turmeric. Added a small amount of butter.

Ground beef covered with Cape Malay Curry spice.

Four hundred grams of ground beef into the pan and topped off with the Cape Malay Curry spices. I fry this for 10-15 minutes and then give them some chance to start frying until the meat almost starts to burn. Once I add in the sauce it deglazes the pan and adds in some nice flavor.

When the mince is ready I add the pre-boiled potatoes with the cauliflower & broccoli in tow. I fry this for another minute or two then add in the sauce. Because the potatoes are cut into smaller cubes the soften within the sauce mixture adding more body to the sauce. I added the lid onto the pan to let the veggies cook a bit more but the sauce cooked away faster than I expected.

It ended up being a nice dish for this cold evening. Added some ground black pepper and coarse salt to finish it off. Serve on a bed of pasta like I did or any starch / grain you prefer.
