It could be the cumin hidden within a mix of spices. Or a faint taste of rosemary once it has been fried and cooked for an hour or two. It might be hidden in a photo you take but only realize a time later that you missed something. The pepper corns and chili flakes scattered onto potatoes to complete the meal.
